For projection the press likes to call it cinemascope ; was started by les ostenelli, hugh hudson and john alcott for greystoke where they shot 'flat' and then made anamorphic prints afterwards. the difference from technicope - the 2 fame pull down system used in the sixties isthat the gate was enlarged to include the soundtrack area of the film thus using the full width available. when the lab made the anamorphic print this re-introduced the area to make the soundtrack. this system has one major advantage over the old 2 frame system. because you use more width you use more height and thus a greater area of the negative renders a less grainy blow-up. advances in emulsion graininess also contribute towards this improvement. ; greystoke was not able to use a zoom however because the filing out of the gate on one side only meant the lenses were no longer central to the image and this created coverage problems. this has now been solved by karl kelly and his team by re-centering the mounts on the bl3 and my arri iii so that the lenses are one again in the centre of the image. however revolution hugh hudson ; was in production during our pre-production and because some rushes had a fault a state of extreme angst and paranoia surrounded this system to the extent that goldcrest would not agree to our using the system and repeatedly insisted that we shot anamorphic if we were so insistent on the 2.33: 1 ratio. 4 days before day 1 we still did not have permission to shoot this system so eventually i told them that i had no further time to change over to 1.85 as all the cameras 2 bl3's and my arri iii ; were now prepared for supascope and unless they wanted to delay the start date we had to shoot. i digress. because the image size is wider at the gate, lenses must be very carefully checked for cut off as motion picture lenses are designed for 1: 1.85 and not super35. fortunately the canon primes originate in design from stills photography and hence we found that the edge definition was a significant improvement over the zeiss's and cooke's although frankly there is not a lot in it. i was planning to work at about t4.5 with 5294 until our stock tests on the by now neon-lit soho set came in. i sat in the rushes together with the small testing team and saw 5294 at it's worst. grainy, lousy shadows, poor colour and no 'bite'. panic. i'm a great fan of fast stock: i shot a whole feature on it in scotland last year restless natives ; and had no complaints. perfect matching with 5247: even the dupe release print i saw recently was holding up fine. not willing to give up so easily i requested two more batches different `vintage' ; and tested them wednesday. just for comparison we shot 5247 at t2 and t2.8. rushes next day were a revelation: both the new batches of fast looked terrible although one was a marginal improvement over the first, but the 5247 result was absolutely wonderful. suddenly i was seeing on the screen what i wanted to see for this film: deep blacks and superb rich colour and no grain. so i made the decision immediately and sent all the fast stock back and re-ordered for slow for the whole film. "even for the night exteriors?!" yes, everything. stuart the loader, a fine critic, asked me the other day: shouldn't you have gone for t4.5, maybe used the fast occasionally? he was concerned about the depth and depth has been a problem all along. only about 10%of this film takes place in the day - as in all julien's work - and consequently there are always neon's or practicals or tv's featuring in shot and i find that with 5247 at 120asa my rating ; an aperture.
Choice than the driver if keeping the ball in play and well-positioned for.
So if there is no generic thought process, what now? does that mean we should throw up our hands and forget the whole thing? i see two solutions that might be of use: 1 ; i can pick a specific position and overall tournament situation ; and you can follow my thought process; or 2 ; i can make some assumptions and then show a generic thought process. both of these approaches are likely to be very helpful and maybe a future novice nook will try the one i didn't choose, but i feel that the more helpful and original is the second. therefore, i will make the following assumptions and, with the help of a couple of prior novice nook references, show roughly how i might think in a generic situation when it is my move: 1. the time control is slow and neither my opponent nor i in time trouble. 2. i playing white and after my previous move have a slight advantage. 3. i trying for the best result i can, but don't necessarily have to risk everything just to win. 4. i in some generic middlegame position with most of the pieces on the board and the material is even. 5. i may have been in similar positions but nothing so similar that i just using that similarity as a basis and playing from memory as is possible with many positions if you are an experienced, strong player ; . 6. my opponent is roughly as good as i am. here we go: my opponent makes a move and starts my clock running: 1. i write down my opponent's move on my scoresheet. staring at it before doing so is not going to be productive. i might also record how much time my opponent has on his clock. 2. i ask myself, "is that move legal?" if not, then there is a certain algorithm i must use which is beyond the scope of this article. if legal, then i continue. 3. i ask myself "am i in check?" if so, that really limits my thought process, but it will be more interesting if i assume not, so if not. 4. i ask myself, "can i mate him with any forced sequence of checks?" if so, then i really don't care much what he now threatens, but in this roughly equal middlegame with a slight.

Back. hatches were wide open across the shuttle and the uda body tank troops packed in. jaret saw the bubble of virulent liquid tremble before it dropped to the crushed moss below. he shouted, "run, run." he grabbed alexa's hand. wovoka rolled to his side, all he could manage before cavaho, his body tank still smoking, lifted and carried him off like a child. "anthra sweet. it will spread like a ripple on a pond. get shuttles down. get your elders away." jaret yelled to alexa. she finger tapped the words to the nearest shuttle. there was no visible reaction for five seconds after the drop of anthra sweet hit the ground. then quickly it spread. every fleck of green moss on the ground turned white, dying instantly. the virus spread like dye across a clean cloth. alexa, jaret and cavaho, carrying wovoka, reached the edge of the open plain. they had to jump over dead tribals to get close to the shuttles that were busily being prepping for launch. stormseeker ran to them and took wovoka from cavaho. he helped wovoka stand on his own feet. jaret spoke in a rush. "it is spreading at half a meter every seconds, the virus will kill every tribal gathered here in a few minutes." stormseeker pulled wovoka's arm over his shoulder. "get on the shuttle, all of you. wovoka, stay with me long enough to give one command." celetain began to protest. stormseeker interrupted her. "we are in battle, elder shaman. heed my wisdom. move." celetain raced away with jaret and alexa toward a ready shuttle. "wovoka, it is time to fulfill prophecy. it is time to pay the real price for this planet. it was not the blood of the uda fleet crews that paid for naanac. you will make the payment now. we have to cauterize the wound. you have to command me to detonate a nagasphere right here, right now. it will kill everyone here and anyone carrying the virus. you have about another thirty seconds to decide. if you don't make this command, the virus will turn naanac into a wasteland. what do you command, white buffalo?" wovoka's head spun. he knew in his heart stormseeker was right. the virus would kill every living thing on naanac. one of the nine planets in existence that could support life would be snuffed out if he did not make the command. and yet stormseeker was asking him to command the slaughter of at least three thousand tribals, his brothers and sisters. wovoka looked at stormseeker as he gave the command. "i command you to detonate a nagasphere at this location." cavaho stood behind wovoka and caught stormseeker's subtle gesture. with blinding speed the old elder warrior slammed his fist into the already weary wovoka's face, knocking him unconscious. cavaho knew it was the only way they would get wovoka onto a shuttle. cavaho carried wovoka away. # stormseeker holstered his sledge violator. "i need forbidden dropped at my feet, razor eight. put the blossom on a jet tiger. drop in 150 seconds. get as many shuttles down on the ground as you can. the shuttles are only to pick up tribals on the outskirts of this field. they must cut off pick-ups when i give the command. move fast, warriors." stormseeker dropped his head and finger tapped his god-code. his voice poured out of every speaker on every shuttle, in the air or on the ground. "brother and sisters, we are infected. i must sever the hand or the body will die. please grant me your trust and let me do what must be done. everyone who can leave in the next few moments must go. i will remain with those who cannot leave. please recognize my wisdom and my love and do not waste time or lives. what i do now, i do at the white buffalo's command." stormseeker looked back across the field and saw white death spreading only a hundred meters away. he ran farther out and climbed to the top of one of the grey leafed trees surrounding the field. the elder warrior settled on two.Large selection of chess sets, chess boards, books, clocks and other games at great prices and poker tournaments. play stud pokerCan be found at many of the local public libraries. mililani has big book sales at the frequent fairs in the mililani town center. the waialua library which won the public library association's award for "best small rural library in the united states, " has a book sale every third saturday of the month from about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but the biggest book sale takes place in mid-summer at the mckinley high school, next to the blaisdell center in honolulu. this sale is the main fundraiser for the friends of the library. proceeds from these sales pay for programs and provide education grants for librarians. the money is also used to send staff to training classes not paid for by the state. the hawaii state public library system falls under the board of education boe ; . hawaii's boe has not given the libraries any money at all for new books in many years so friends of the library step in to help. friends is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization that promotes and supports public libraries. for more information call 5364164.bingo casino pokerPrweb ; september 27, 2006 -- in an effort to bring two gambling markets and play poker fans together, pokerlistings and usamateurpokertour are proud to announce its promotional partnership with a furniture grade poker table giveaway, valued at , 599. on september 30th 2006, pokerlistings and usamateur poker tour will award one lucky winner, a furniture grade poker table valued at , 599. with comfortable seating for 8 players, an exclusive hardwood stained chip ring, 8 built in s steel cup holders, and the pokerlistings playing felt, one lucky winner will be playing poker in style for years to come. Several innovative firms have already begun to market products such as longevity insurance to affluent boomers who, as a group, control the vast majority of wealth. globalization and opportunity historically, asset management companies generally limited their activities to domestic markets. however, as foreign markets continue to develop, particularly in china and india, investors are increasingly looking to these markets to increase returns and reduce risks through diversification. investment in developing economies presents opportunities for greater returns, but may also mean greater investment risks due to potential instability in developing markets. asset management companies have responded by expanding their operations globally and providing clients with foreign investment vehicles. in addition, as overseas markets continue to mature and stabilize, the asset management firms will be able to offer their products to increasingly wealthy foreign clients. for example, similar to the canadian government's investment strategy involving the cpp, the chinese government has recently chosen a few asset management firms, including t. rowe price, to manage offshore investments of its social security fund. investment style shifts passively managed i.e. index-tracking and poker downloads. a method of avoiding the focus on financing these followers is to provide them for free from the player character's perspective. as an in-game device this makes a great deal of sense: the retinue is either provided by the noble's family or lord, or is a group of followers who have flocked to the noble's cause because of his reputation or fame. such a group can also be considered to working or supported by additional members of his retinue who are not followers but merely members of the household staff, with a net income for the noble of zero. with the staff on a large, landed estate or a small tribe this can also act as a useful focus for subsequent plot devices and initiators. not only does this sense in game, but also from a metagame perspective. not only are the player character's freed from providing for the followers, but the make-up of the followers is also put more firmly into the hands of the games master. a player is more likely to share the management of his followers with the games master if he knows his character has not difficulties in providing for them. of course, with players who like a high degree of characterisation this can end up being a highly fruitful sessions not just for the player character but for the plot as a whole: who might feel aggrieved by the upand-coming noble's success? where do they live? though a tribe of nomads may not have much of a problem finding a place to. 1. introduction for the benefit of those unfamiliar with our organisation the lotteries council is a not-for profit association whose membership currently totals over 160 organisations licensed to operate lotteries, either by the gambling commission or local authorities. the lc was formed over 25 years ago with the aim of representing the common interests of lottery fund-raisers large and small, in all areas from charities to sporting bodies, all of whom are working diligently to comply with complex gambling laws. the growth in membership continues to be in the charitable sector, whilst the membership among sport-supporting organisations has stabilised. 2. consistent opposition the lc has consistently opposed the promotion of pay-to-enter lotteries--such as those found on call tv quiz shows--operating for commercial gain and which are open to people of all ages who are first able to answer a ridiculously easy question. the lc's original concern was for the good causes supported by its members' lotteries but this is now augmented by the concern over the total lack of protection for the young and the vulnerable, who do not realise they are indulging in a gambling activity.the lc is convinced that such a burgeoning unregulated lottery market sector cannot help but impact upon the fundraising of all legitimate lotteries including the national lottery. 3. unfair advantage it is claimed by some not involved with good cause lotteries that media based, no-skill prize competitions are simply a form of harmless family entertainment. the lc believe that this is even more so the case with our members' lotteries and their generally lower entry fees. unfortunately for them, these almost identical forms of entertainment have been treated very diverently by the regulators. whereas the fee in a legitimate lottery is recognised as being part donation and part stake in a game of chance and the promotion closely regulated as a form of gambling, that for a prize competition pseudo-lottery is not. in the latter case, therefore, there is neither any requirement to account for the proper conduct of the promotion nor to make any donation to a worthy cause. this lack of any need to comply with any licensing or donation requirements gives such promotions an unfair advantage over legitimate lotteries. lotteries promoted by the broadcast media have an even more unfair advantage than this. it is believed by a minority of people unfamiliar with lottery fundraising that media-based pseudo lotteries cannot impact upon societies' lotteries because the latter are supported only by people who sympathise with the good cause. whilst this may frequently be true of the agents or collectors of the stake money, in an overwhelming number of cases the participant agrees to enter only because that particular lottery has been the first to present itself to that individual or household. if another local lottery has made an earlier successful approach, the answer to the second one will frequently be: "no thank you; we're in the xx lottery". when the "first caller", therefore, is a look-alike lottery, presented with the impact of a television programme inside the family home, and with a quick and easy, delayed-payment means of entry, the answer to many of the subsequent approaches by the canvassers and mailings of society lotteries is inevitably going to be a refusal. why bother with standing orders, direct debits, or always having to be home when the collector calls when you can enter this easily without even having to get up to answer the door? such alternative means of entry were denied to society lotteries for many years on the grounds that they constituted entry by machine, as were radio and tv platforms from which to advertise lotteries on the grounds that this would in some way breach broadcasting codes. so the situation currently exists whereby legitimate lotteries operating under strict regulation and donating to good causes are denied an equal footing with commercial lotteries hiding behind a scintilla of skill and having no public accountability. 4. regulation or not? the current proliferation of dedicated tv game channels is a direct result of the refusal of the authorities to act upon some blatant examples of unlawful lottery promotions in recent years, and there is a real danger that if the time should come when society lotteries are able to promote on an equal footing, the market place will have become exhausted. the gambling commission has stated that prize competitions will remain under the gambling act 2005, free of statutory regulatory control.11 the lc see no justification for legitimising pay-to-enter competitions without registration limits and accountability. indeed, we believe that registration of this type of promotion with the newly formed gambling commission could be advantageous not only to the licensing objectives but also the funding of the commission. this is a practice exercised in some european countries. minimum skill, pay-to-enter competitions appeal directly to children and a wide range of consumers, but are unregulated by the gc and have no codes for recognising and dealing with social responsibility issues. Player b is a "loose", "aggressive" type who plays about half of the hands they're dealt, betting heavily with most of those hands. when a tight player challenges them with a big raise, they delay and then "reluctantly fold" their crap hands ; . when they do happen to pick up a legitimate hand, they'll some zinging right back at you with an even bigger reraise, in an attempt to scare you away. these types of players are harder to read, as they don't play "normal", "solid" poker. on average, i'd say they have absolutely no hand over half the time and no chance of picking one up, either. the best way to get a read on these cats is to bet into them or re-raise them, forcing them to "prove themselves" and their hand strength. often times, they'll run once they're challenged twice it takes "guts" to do this, but against these types of players, unless you're willing to sit on the sidelines and await a good hand, and deal with the blinds, you'll be forced to engage them whenever you have a good "heads-up" hand ; . solid, normal players are fairly honest players most of the time ; , who play the hands they're dealt. solid, tricky players are somewhat less predictable, mixing up their play with an occasional bluff, steal and trap play. when playing against these players, you ask yourself "what kind of starting hand requirements does this type of player have in their position, given their stack size and situation?" for example, a solid player who makes a big raise in early position most likely has a big pocket pair, like qq, kk or aa with a bigger bet, possibly even jj ; . a solid player in late position who raises could hold group 1 through group 4 hands, or even more hands with 5 or fewer players at the table. when you're playing against an "honest" or weak ; player, they pretty much play their own hand strength most of the time. when they have a stronger hand, they bet a lot bigger. when they have a weak hand, they check or call. when they have no hand, they fold. you'll almost never see them bluff, since that's too risky. these players are riskaverse and they don't like taking too many chances. you'll generally know when you're beaten, because their bets usually directly represent their hand strength. the more experienced, solid players will also pay close attention to their "expected value", and tend to avoid pots where their pot odds aren't attractive. you'll be able to spot them folding whenever an opponent places a bet that reduces their odds enough to make it less profitable to remain in the hand. this is very useful, since you can readily manipulate the pot odds directly with your own bets. when playing against "dishonest" players, you must use different tactics to gain insight into their hand strength. in addition to observing their playing and betting patterns, you must bet into them. when you place a sizable bet three or more times the bb or the pot size or more ; , you'll generally find out where you stand this is called a "feeler bet", and is something you must master to hold your own against these players. often times, they'll back down when they have no hand. other times, they'll become very aggressive if they have any kind of hand at all ace-anything, low to medium pairs, flush or straight draws ; . these players love the action and taking risks. they get "lucky" more often, simply because they play lots of hands. over the long haul, these players often lose, since they are playing against the odds; however, the more experienced, superaggressive ones e.g., gus hanson comes to mind ; often do very well, since they pull page 14 and Live Search.
